Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), established under the Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961 (EP Ordinance XXXVII, 1961), as the then East Pakistan Agricultural Development Corporation. In 1975, BADC was renamed as Bangladesh Agricultural Equipment Supply and Services Corporation (BAISSC), because the government was considered to be different from other development institutions in the agricultural sector. But in 1976, the name of BAISSC was re-changed and the name of the BADC was reinstated. Although BADC is based in Dhaka city as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Agriculture, the scope of its service extends throughout Bangladesh. Field offices are up to the upazila level, and in some cases, there is a vast network of offices in more remote areas.

The authority to take decisions regarding general and administrative guidance of the corporation and other matters, the Board of Directors entrusted with the Board of Directors. The corporation's organizational structure consists of 5 wings. These are: Seeds and Gardens, Minor Seeds, Fertilizer Management, Finance and Administration.

The fundamental tasks conferred on BADC are: Due to the production, procurement, procurement, procurement, storage and distribution of agricultural inputs in Bangladesh and essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizer and irrigation facilities for the farmers through the use of surface and underground water. Professionals from various professions such as agriculture, engineering, economics, management etc are working together in BADC. The total number of posts granted was 25,451. But in the early 90s, the withdrawal of man-made activities from BADC and privatization of irrigation and reduction in manpower due to normal and voluntary retirement.

Through a gazette notification, in 1999 (Bangladesh Gazette published in 22nd November, 1999) Corporation was reconstituted and some new activities were provided on quality seed production and irrigation. With the help of new projects and programs, BADC provides financial support for irrigation water, through the G2G system, strengthening of seed production, enhancing high yielding varieties and increasing the production of adverse tolerant varieties.
